PURPOSE: To provide Play Therapy interventions to support the for
short and longer term therapeutic needs of young people in the
CH * Area as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
To offer support and advice to other staff as required.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES: (INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO)

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

* To engage in multi-disciplinary teamwork in assessing and
monitoring the needs of children referred.
* To plan, implement, evaluate and deliver play therapy programmes
to individual and/or groups of young people and prioritise duties.
* To support and participate in the delivery of family support group
programmes.
* To document assessments and interventions in line with
professional guidelines and to be responsible for keeping up to date
statistics for the database.
* To work collaboratively with young people, parents, and colleagues
to implement individual care plans and programmes.
* To present monthly Statistical reports to line manager.

* To keep informed of ongoing developments in the field of addiction
in terms of families and in the field of play therapy.
* To maintain appropriate records of equipment and to participate in
audits and evaluations.
* To maintain active accreditation with appropriate body.
* To adhere to the Codes of Ethics of the play therapy profession.
* Any other duties that may be assigned by the regional manager.

SERVICE DELIVERY RESPONSIBILITIES

* To provide group and/or individual play therapy to service users,
planning and reviewing treatment in conjunction with the service user
and the multidisciplinary team in the context of their full care plan.
* To engage in assertive outreach to support access to the service.
* To assess each service user's suitability for individual or group
play therapy.
* To refer on internally or to other appropriate services after
assessment or on discharge.
* To assess risk and adopt appropriate measures to maintain a safe
and therapeutically sensitive environment for all when faced with
challenging behaviour. To contribute to the overall team risk
assessment.
* To work and think responsibly and constructively with the relevant
multidisciplinary teams and any carers/supporters involved, drawing on
clinical experience and theoretical knowledge to highlight any
additional concerns or risks.
* To manage time limited therapy with due consideration to the
ending in the context of the overall treatment programme.
* To work constructively and flexibly with people from different
cultural, social and religious backgrounds.
* To integrate students into appropriate clinical situations whilst
giving a level of support to ensure the safety of and benefit to both
students and service users.
* To write reports and contribute to the writing of reports as
required.
* To plan, develop and deliver individual and group play activities
in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team.

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

* To report any incidents, following correct procedure, having sought
advice from line manager.
* To have a working knowledge of, and adhere to, current legislation
and Coolmine policies including, Child Protection Policy, Child and
Vulnerable Adults and Data Protection.
* To ensure own ethical practice by working within the code of
ethics of the relevant accrediting body and abiding by Coolmine
Confidentiality policies.
* To be competent in the use of IT equipment and systems.
* To maintain accurate service user records including clinical note
keeping, report writing, data collection and statistics in accordance
with Coolmine policies.
* To take an active part in own line management supervision
including own appraisal.
* To work in harmony with colleagues and develop constructive
professional relationships.
* To undertake other relevant duties assigned by Line Manager.

TRAINING

* To educate other professionals about play therapy as needed
(through workshops /presentations etc).
* To provide supervision to students on placement as appropriate.
* To make full and appropriate use of supervision structures.
* To identify training and development needs through the
professional and managerial supervision and performance development
process and ensure they are linked to service objectives.
* To maintain skills and proficiencies as required to practise.
* To undertake mandatory training as required.

HEALTH & SAFETY

* Comply with and contribute to the development of policies,
procedures, guidelines and safe professional practice and adhere to
relevant legislation, regulations and standards.

MANAGEMENT OF RESOURCES

* To be responsible for the physical storage and setting out of art
therapy equipment.
* To ensure the confidentiality of people's work within the therapy
space and the safe and confidential storage of people's work during
therapy and post-discharge.

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

* To be aware of developments in good practice and adopt new
practices where appropriate.
* To show flexibility and openness to new information based on
research that informs the above.
* To participate in evidence-based practice initiatives.
* To participate actively in the research strategy for the
organization.

ESSENTIAL TO THE POST

Applicants must by the closing date of application have the following
Qualifications and / or Experience:

* A recognised professional qualification in play therapy and a
recognised qualification in Childcare, Social Work, Psychology or
relevant discipline.
* Accreditation with relevant recognised accreditation body.
* 3 years’ experience in play therapy.
* Experience of working with young people who have been affected by
family substance use.
* Full clean driving licence and willingness to drive as part of job
are essential.

HEALTH

A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully
competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office
and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable
prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
